I've been working on some new 6 x 6's for ebay. I'll be putting up one each night this week covering a variety of subjects. As these auctions progress I'll be working on new pieces for the galleries, and will post those images as they are completed. Tonight I'm listing another bowl of pool balls.

I've been "wowed" by your stuff for quite some time. I am stuck between realism and the more "painterly" style. Feeling like if I don't paint more in the impressionistic or abstract style, I'm note a "real" artist. But, I feel more comfortable sometimes make objects look real.
Is that so bad?
Wow...I just read my last post. I should have a spell check. I'm not that unintelligent! I hope what I said made some sort of sense.
This is amazingly well done. The reflections are so good and realistic.
Beautiful, Neil. All your work has this wonderful "presence" about it that is impossible to describe in words. (That's why you paint, right?) It has something to do with a very real sense of the passage of time in the work--a frozen moment--a sense that the light will change, the cup will be picked up. The paintings make one aware of time and yet they also seem timeless...terrific.
Thanks all. Jayne I struggle with that same concept, but lately rather than moving in a more "painterly" direction, I've been leaning toward tighter realism. And Don I do try to achieve that "frozen moment". It's nice to read that this is how they are perceived.
